What the Cabin Keeps 1

$0.00

A mesmerizing spiral, What the Cabin Keeps 1 is a straw marquetry artwork composed of dyed rye straw. In walnut brown tones, the surface grain of each geometric section catches light differently as the viewer moves around the composition so that the piece sometimes appears almost metallic. The result shifts between a graphic spiral from afar to a field of organic texture and tonal variation up close. Float framed in black, 12in x 12in.

• Year: 2025
• Size: 12in x 12in
• Framed: 13in x 13in (float framed in black)
• Media: dyed straw on wood panel
• Price: $580 (includes frame) — email to inquire

Part of the Warmth Series — This series is inspired by historic American quilt blocks — handcrafted objects, often made by mothers and grandmothers, that are passed down through generations. There is a simple authenticity in their making — a meticulous act of love.
