Linear with organic texture, The Alchemist's Dream is a large-scale abstract straw marquetry artwork made with dyed rye straw. A broad field of soft ivory gives way to a meandering band of umbers, browns, and gold, creating a dynamic, undulating movement.

Alchemy is the ancient pursuit of turning base materials, like lead, into gold. To me, this is the essence of my chosen medium, elevating a humble grass into something radiant. I view the band of color similar to a vein of gold.
