A Measure of Stillness

$0.00

A Measure of Stillness is an abstract large-scale straw marquetry work on wood panel made with hand-dyed rye straw in a palette of blues and warm beiges. A fluid undulating wave form interrupts a structured linear field, a gesture that evokes water in gentle motion. The straw's surface is naturally luminous, shifting with light. Float framed in maple.

What is stillness? Can you be still… if you breathe? if your blood flows? What about a body of water in a gentle breeze? I think that stillness is rarely the absence of movement; instead, it is the harmony found within it.
